DEGREE OF COMPARISON

Degree of Comparison digunakan untuk membandingkan sifat (adjective) atau keterangan (adverb) suatu benda, orang, atau keadaan.

Jenis Degree of Comparison

Ada 3 macam, yaitu:

• Positive Degree
• Comparative Degree
• Superlative Degree

1. Positive Degree (Tingkat Biasa)

Digunakan untuk menyatakan sifat tanpa perbandingan.

Rumus: Subject + to be + adjective

Contoh: She is smart. - This bag is big -The flower is beautiful.

2. Comparative Degree (Tingkat Perbandingan)

Digunakan untuk membandingkan dua benda/orang.

Rumus: Subject + to be + adjective-er + than

atau Subject + to be + more + adjective + than

Aturan Singkat:

Kata sifat pendek → tambah -er

Kata sifat panjang → tambah more

Contoh:

• My house is bigger than yours.
• She is taller than her sister.
• This book is more interesting than that one.

3. Superlative Degree (Tingkat Paling)

Digunakan untuk membandingkan lebih dari dua dan menunjukkan yang paling.

Rumus: Subject + to be + the + adjective-est

atau Subject + to be + the most + adjective

Contoh:

• Mount Everest is the highest mountain.
• She is the smartest student in the class.
• This is the most beautiful place.
